A smile is the shortest distance between two people. It is powerful not because it promotes friendliness or joy, but because it is unique in the way that it creates and sustains intimacy between individuals without the use of any words. It is universal and surpasses all racial, religious and social barriers. A smile is as nice to give as it is to receive. Whether a person is gloomy, angry or upset, a simple smile at times can enliven that individual. It could soften hostile moods in obnoxious circumstances. When we pass a stranger on the road, it is always pleasant to exchange smiles. We may not come across that stranger ever again but the memory of the smile can last a lifetime. There are so many languages in the world and only a smile can speak them all.
